The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) is an institution of the Swiss Confederation dedicated to higher learning and research, measuring itself against the highest recognised international standards. It believes that a network of knowledge and skills acquired in an interdisciplinary environment best respond to the natural and cultural interdependencies of life.

Although ETH Zurich will not be directly involved in training, it will bring its experience and unusual approach to the collective expertise of the network. For example, Gérard Hertig, Professor of Law at ETH Zurich since 1995 and team leader, is responsible for a new postgraduate programme 'Intellectual Property' that attracts students from several European countries and benefits from contributions by more than a hundred lecturers based in Europe, the U.S. and Asia.
Training opportunities
• Offering state-of-the art facilities and allowing for interaction with Zurich area academics on research projects concerning corporate governance;

• liaising with the editorial board and editing prior to publication in the ECGI Working Paper series in law; similar activities could be done for the Swiss Business Law Review, a leading Swiss company law journal (of which Gerard Hertig is co-editor);

• attending seminars, workshops and conferences on corporate governance, firm behaviour as well as securities regulation organised in particular by the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, with participation of well-known scholars from Europe and the U.S. (see also www.hertig.ethz.ch).
